Haven attracted the interest of sites

The potential sale of Haven Health Care New England’s 25 nursing homes is the interest of some drawing Out-of-State-Private Equity ventures with local vendors not to wait, to submit a bid for Channel agitated, state and industry officials said.

“One thing we are quite certain is that the 25 homes are sold. If a company or several companies remains a” Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said. “The result will depend on tenders and auctions.”

Blumenthal said that a half-dozen companies have expressed interest in the resumption Haven’s homes - 15 of them in Connecticut - if the chain is in block the auction of spring this year, as part of a plan of liquidation. He said he could not disclose the parties, because it might deter potential buyers. But some nursing-home operators and supporters, private equity, the companies likely candidates given that the locally based chains have little interest in a large expansion.

“There is currently no sign that any supplier would be interested Connecticut, 15 houses,” said Toni Fatone, Executive Vice President of the Association of Connecticut Health Care Facilities. “The more likely scenario, because it is a real estate construction of 25 companies, is that it is a big financial unit of subscriptions that the sale”.

The state’s largest home-care operators have not expressed interest in acquiring the chain Haven, even if the business owners said it might consider a few houses Haven, if the chain is divvied.

Lawrence Santilli, president of Athena Health Care Systems, which operates 18 care facilities in Connecticut, said it would acquire four or five houses “- particularly Haven apartments that do not have unions workers - and expects the financial audit documents Haven, Provided that the prospective buyer.

Santilli said that for local players, purchasing the entire chain would be “a quantity. … I would like to see, [homes] distributed. It is useful, not all of them with a company . ”

Officials of Apple Health Care, another large chain, went to comment Haven, but not yet their interest for state officials on the acquisition of the chain.

Haven was a lucrative venture for its director, Raymond terms used, millions of dollars in assets of the chain, a Nashville record company and other personal purchases. But in recent years, some houses have chain of state control and harsh penalties for lapses in patients, and some are in need of major renovation - inappropriate for potential buyers.

Nursing Home purchases of private equity have more and more companies usual, but they have stirred controversy. The investment groups often have a complex structure, control difficult and some studies suggest that ownership leads to lower quality care. Some industry officials dispute that disadvantages.
