Divorce study finds that more and more women are dumping
What is sex more often to blame for divorce? The answer seems clear, whenever a Mogulanlagen as Donald Trump or Ronald Perelman or Rupert Murdoch dumps his wife.

But there is a problem with the conventional wisdom. Across America, at least two-thirds of divorce suits filed are occupied by women. The researchers interviewed divorcing couples have noted several times that in cases where divorce is not for the two parties is desired, women are twice as likely as those who want. This trend has inspired what is probably the first paper in the American Journal of Law and Economics ever to be named after a Nancy Sinatra song. In “These shoes are Made for Walking: Why divorce Filer Most are women, Margaret Brinig and Douglas Allen, both economists, analyze all 46000 divorces presented in the year 1995 in four countries: Connecticut, Virginia, Montana and Oregon.
They saw reasons which invites a woman to file for divorce. One would be to escape an abusive husband - like a man, adultery or violence. But in the state, with the best records on complaints, Virginia, only 6% of divorces were granted on grounds of violence, and husbands were cited for adultery only slightly more often than women.
“Some women file for divorce because they are really bad marriage,” said Brinig, a professor of law at the University of Iowa. “But there seems to be a relatively small number, probably less than 20% of cases .
The solution to the mystery, the factor that determines most cases, the issue has custody of children. Women are much more willing to separate, because - unlike men - they are generally not afraid of losing custody for children. Instead, is often a divorce, it allows them to take control of childhood.
“The question of custody absolutely swamps all other variables,” said Brinig. “Children are the most important asset position in a marriage, partners and expects that only custody is by far the most often given for the divorce. ”
